About

A dense residential and commercial district northeast of central Cairo, developed through the 1960s and 1970s as Egypt's first large-scale planned modern residential extension. Hosts City Stars Mall, Cairo International Stadium, and the Nasr City campus of Al-Azhar University. Residential stock is mid-rise apartment buildings from the 1970s through the 2000s; a middle-class-and-up primary residential market with strong rental demand from Ain Shams University students, medical professionals, and central-Cairo commuters.
